Denver, CO #DenverJaggs

Denver, CO (Boulder/Fort Collins)

Jaggard/Jones trip to the Rocky State (is that a thing) to see a concert and taste lots of beers.

Where we stayed:

Grand Hyatt Hotel- this is right in the middle of downtown Denver. And it is one big ass hotel. The location is great because you can walk to a lot BUT it is next to the Denver Convention Center so you can imagine there are lots of touristy peoples and places. And it seems pretty expensive for what you are getting BUT we liked it, it kept our heads comfy at night and location location location.

Where we ate:

  • Fat Sully's-has been featured on many of the food/cooking shows that I watch and it was quite the experience. The neighborhood that it was in was so cute and not near downtown hustle and bustle. If you go, order a pizza, the 26" pizza. Drink some tasty craft beers and wait the 45 minutes to have a pizza delivered to your table the size of a body. It is pretty freaking delicious and makes for a funny photo opp
  • Devil's Food- Holy great breakfast! Thanks to a rec from a friend we were pointed in this direction and my goodness it did not disappoint. The coffee was amazing, the food was even better, and the atmosphere sort of makes you feel like you are in a antique dream
  • Lola-Mexican food heaven with great drinks
  • Old Major-We had reservations but ooops the Gamecocks and Hokies were winning so we didn't go. But on our next trip we will FOR SURE be going here
  • WestEnd-great rooftop place in Boulder that had BBQ nachos that will change your life. Loved it here and wish we could have spent all day enjoying
  • Don's Club Tavern-Gamecocks on Gamecocks on Gamecocks. If you want to watch USC or be in a true dive bar then this your place

What we did:

  • Red Rocks Amphitheater-warning this is coming from a nonmusic person... but Red Rocks is for everyone. We had the BEST time here and the music was amazing. If you are not into music then go anyway, have the experience, eat the Philly Cheese Steak during a show, and just love life. It is a once in a lifetime experience. Also, we paid to have a driver take us there and back, worth every damn penny (if you want the name happy to send it to you)
  • Breckenridge Brewing Company-agave wheat beer is just plain good. And so are their other beers
  • Great Divide Brewing Company-love it, need it, want it
  • New Belgium Brewery-located in Fort Collins this is a MUST if you are in Denver or even in the state of Colorado. I am not a tour person, I would just rather drink then figure out how it is made BUT this whole experience is like none other. The building is fun, the tour lets you drink while you find out how it is made and what New Belgium is doing with their employees is just revolutionary (company is employee owned). And the beer is phenomenal, cant wait for them to open in Asheville next year!!!!
  • Avery Brewing Company-located in Boulder and about to go a HUGE reconstruction of the brewery and location. The beer is great and local
  • Boulder Farmers Market-I will say it once and continue to say it again, if you are visiting a town no matter where in the world you are, find their farmers market on Saturdays! The food, the people, the music, the energy is how you can get to know the city/town you are in
  • Coors Field-we didn't get here but we passed it several times and it looks so fun! Get some baseball tix or go taste some beers here
  • Colorado State University-where I got my masters degree and wow am I even more proud of that. Jaggs and I love to visit college campuses wherever we travel because you can see the heart of a city on a college campus. What they are doing at CSU is mind blowing and the town of Fort Collins makes CSU even better. Take some time to check it out!
  • University of Colorado (Boulder- O you said you wanted a mountain town and college town combined? Done and done. The students and peoples of Boulder are doing it right

Looking back:

We needed more time. We were there for four days and loved every single second that we were there. Everything that we did was so unique and different to the city that we were in. While it seems like we were all over the place and on the go we really didn't feel like that at all. Colorado is just laid back fun and that is what you will feel the whole time you are there.
