Asheville, NC #AVLjaggs

Asheville, NC

Part II

Going to go ahead and be realll honest here. There will be posts about AVL for years to come. There is always something new to see, sip and taste in AVL so I will make sure to keep up with what we do each time we go there.

Where we stayed:

Holiday Inn & Suites about a few miles from downtown. Great location, great hotel, perfect for laying your head down to get some zzz's after a long day of eating and drinking. The price was pretty amazing for Memorial Day weekend and an Uber to get to all of the hot spots is about $5-$6. Perfection.

Where we ate:

Nightbell-get a rezzie now. Stop reading and get a rezzie. This place was recommended by one of my favorite foodie pals (@colatownfoodie) and dear lord it was beyond my wildest dreams. We went the first night to get after dinner cocktails which were spectacular. Then the second night we went for apps before dinner which were life changing. I would say that this spot is a top 5 best dishes spot of my #traveljaggs life. FOR SURE get the "deviled egg" and let me know when you are going to name your first born after me
Curate-an AVL staple that will always be on the travel list. Tapas, perfection. Best gin & tonics out there. Need any more info? Didnt think so
Gan Shan Station-sister restaurant to Xiao Bao Biscuit in an old gas station. The menu is on point with ramen, dumplings and great small plates for any kind of eater. They are doing great things here, cant wait to see where it goes
City Bakery-a great breakfast spot for freshly baked bread and biscuits that will make you want to be a better person. Two locations with mostly the same menu and not a long wait

What we did:

Sierra Nevada Brewery-we checked out this hot spot with last November and did their tour (which was fab) but went back because their tasting room is now open. This is THE PLACE to be if you love craft beer and a cool spot. There are about 20ish brews on tap and their tasting room is the size of Texas. The food menu looks outstanding. For sure worth the trip and TAKE TOUR (you never hear me say that) but my advice would be to get there when they open because when we left it looked similar to South of the Boarder
Burial Brewery-no question my top 5 favorite breweries. They have expanded with a beer garden and outdoor fun area. Their beers are pretty grand and the crowd there is way more my scene than some of the well known breweries
Funkatorium-I am not a sour beer lover but if you are then this is your place. Owned by Wicked Week, they are doing a lot of funky beers and doing testing. Always packed with locals and hipsters that love the funky fresh beer
Hi-wire Brewery-want to play Nintendo while you sip on brews? This is your spot
Bens Tune Up-a newer spot right beside Hi-wire Brewery that is bringing the beer garden hits to AVL. The food looked to be Asian inspired and smelled like heaven. The vibe is killer with lots of outdoor seating and I think I saw a tiki hut in one area. I will for sure be eating here the next time we go back. Did I mention they make their own sake? Right
Highlands Brewing Company-about 10 min from downtown this is a hot spot for beer lovers. We happened to be there on Sunday for their Jazz Brunch and got flights to sample. It was a great time, not one of my favorite in AVL but glad we went
Fork Mountain Farm-our traveling buddies and besties' uncle owns this farm and we spent the day/night there checking out their organic heaven. If you are at the farmers markets or some of the local restaurants in AVL (like Bouchon)you will taste some of their divine lettuces and produce. Major props to Tim and Margaret (the owners of the farm) for making sure that their love is put into the food they produce. And damn it is outstanding. Keep doing what you are doin'

Looking back:

Always one of our favorite towns which will be on the blog and in our lives for.. forever
