Another Austin trip in the books. It is quickly becoming a yearly ritual to go to Austin for my birthday and I couldn't be happier. The more time we spend in this fabulous city the more we fall in love. It is filled with everything we love: culture, good food, great weather, beer, music (well I don't love that but Jaggs does), and really just cool people.
Where we stayed
As always, we love staying in VRBO's off of South Congress and this one was one of the best we have stayed in. Clean, king bed, perfect location, all the amenities, and the owner was super helpful in helping us. They place also comes with two bikes that are free to use and for $50 you can use the electric bikes for your whole stay, which are simply perfect for strolls by the lake and around town. we had a blast using them. Also, the price of the rental is unbeaten around the South Congress area.

Here is our trip by day:
Breakfast- Paperboy- AMAZING food truck in Austin serving up the most delicious sweet poAtato hash that you will ever have and their coffee is amaze. Loved getting off the airplane and going straight here to start our trip
Michele’s Estate Jewelry- Family owned estate jewlery and silver. So much to buy at killer prices and made a great purchase :)
Perlas- No trip to Austin is complete without going to Perla's sit sit on the porch and have rose. We have eaten here several times and loved it, but it is a must for day drinking and seeing the Austin scene
Lunch-Home Slice Pizza- Best. Pizza. Ever. The amount of taste and flavor that comes from their
Hops and Grain Brewery- Serving up some of Austin's best beer and happens to be one of our favorite breweries in the city. Make sure to check out their list of weekly events at the brewery, they always have something fun going on
Zilker Brewing Company- I am not a Milk Stout drinker but they are brewing one of the best I have ever had. Located on East 6th St. this will be a brewery that we keep going back to. All of the beers we had in my flight were pretty great
Easy Tiger- Perfect happy hour spot with a lively scene. Make sure to get their pretzels and beef jerky app to pair with your beer. You won't be disappointed
Dinner- Kuneho- Located on East 6th Street (which FYI is THE SPOT where all of the latest and greatest are popping up) we enjoyed killer Asian bites. There is quite a list of sushi rolls to choose from so we opted for the bites. I think this is the way to go paired with their boozy cocktails (and they are super boozy)
Breakfast-Farmers Market Barton Springs- I am all about going to Farmers Markets when we travel so you can taste the local everything. Usually we go to the downtown market but wanted to try something new. I wouldn't recommend this one, it is pretty out of the way from downtown and it didn't have as much selecton. Stick with what we know was the lesson learned here
Wright Bros Brew & Brew- One of our favorite coffee spots that is serving up great cups of coffee. However, to the woman with long blonde hair who could not have been ruder to me when I ordered a latte, we will not be back. You are what gives Austin and "hip spots" a bad name. Good luck in life, sweetie
Lunch-Clarks Oyster Bar- Get a reservation NOW. This is our second time here and it won't be our last. The food is unbeliavable, the vibe makes you want to stay for hours, and the decor makes you feel like you are in the Meditereanean. When you make your rezzie, ask to sit outside. You will thank me later
Tea Haus- I have been following theses guys in Instagram for awhile and when they were on the way to Austin Beerworks I was thrilled to stop in. Super different, super delicous, and very authentic tea house in Austin. If you are headed to the brewery I would make a stop here, very worth your while and always nice to try something different
Austin Beerworks- It seems that a lot of new breweries are making their home out in the insturstrial part of Austin. Austin Beerworks has expanded a lot since we went two years ago and the trip out there was well worth it when we saw their new digs. Making great beers and a pretty cool set up made the expierence a hightlight of our trip
Live Oak Brewing Company- Located across from the airport Live Oak's new spot in Austin is worth the trip. They are serving up great beers in a very Texas countryside atmosphere. And we happened to be there when the food truck on site was doing a crawfish boil, best we have ever had. Seriously. It was one for the books. If our flight wouldn't have gotten into Austin so early, this would be our first stop of the trip since it is so close to the airport. Check to see if they are open when you are flying in, very worth it.
Dinner- Chicon- Again, located on East 6th this place is doing good food. I wouldn't say it was life changing, but what they do, they do well. And their prices are great for the food they are putting out.
Breakfast- Cafe No Se- This is a must. You are must go here for brunch or breakfast or whatever. We had the most lovley meal and expierence for Sunday brunch. The coffee is unbelievable and Jaggs says that his cappacino was the best he has ever had in his life. The food is fresh, thoughtful, and all homemade. I never mention this but the decor of the restaurant was inviting and just felt good. Highly recommend
Barton Springs Rent Bikes- If you are in Austin, you have to either rent bikes or go running around the lake. It is what all Austin folks are doing on pretty days. It is such a great way to burn off some of the beers you have been drinking and get out with the peoples. Trust me, if I can do the biking then it is not hard
Dinner- Odd Duck- Best. Meal. Of. The. Trip. Guys, attention. Listen up. If you are in Austin and looking for a meal that will leave you wanting more and a menu that looks "normal" but when you taste it, you are thinking that you didn't realize that food could taste like that, then this is your spot. The food, the drinks, the people, the atmosphere is A+++++. They take reservations and ask to sit at the bar when you do so you can watch them cook while you sip your margaritas (that is the best I have ever had). Could not be more impressed with Odd Duck and can't wait to come back many more times
Lunch- Torchy’s Tacos Food Truck Trailer Park- Our Austin tradition of getting Torchy's on the way out of town continues. The cheese dip, guys. The cheese dip is what dreams are made of. And so are their tacos. You cannot go to Austin without a stop at Torch's
