Gillingham, England #EuroJaggs

Gillingham, England

Hometown date! First leg of our journey with family and friends of the Jaggard's.

Where we stayed:

Framily's house. It is the bestest, think rolling hills, fresh air, great kitchen. In my humble traveling opinion, take the train from London or rent a car and go and see Gill. You will get a real taste of what England is all about (and get some killer beers) but there are not a lot of hotels in the area. There are some Bed and Breakfasts so check into that.

Where we ate:

  • The Buffalo- fabulous old English pub with... Italian food. Pause for a moment of thought. But it is everything that you have ever wanted in an English pub and the food is pretty good
  • Spread Eagle Pub (Mere, England)- I know what you are thinking, so mature you are. But the food is very English and the town is so cute

What we did:
  • We did a lot of tea drinking, but legit English tea with legit English peoples
  • Took a drive down to the sea to Poole, England which is a fun place to get real fish and chips and see what the English folks are doing on the weekend
  • Mere, England is just a fabulous small town that you must visit and bring a good camera
  • Drive the roads, take the path less traveled and see the rolling hills, sheep, and fill your lungs with the air
  • Stonehenge- you can see it from the road (literally like a rest stop but with really big stones) but now if you want to go and actually stop to take pictures and see the stones you need to pay. I dont think you need to pay, take a pic from your window, there are beers to have and not enough time to stop and wait in line with the motor coaches of tourist
  • Schaftesbury- this small town is prob my favorite of them all. It sits on a hill over looking the English country side and it is pure perfection. There is a pub (The Miter) that Jaggs' dad grew up visiting and they have blankets for you to sit outside on look at the view
  • Windor (Castle)- Yes where the queens home is. About 30 min from London this is just a great little town to pretend your dreams of being a princess/queen are real. The castle is amazzzzing! We ate at a pub (Two two brewers) and had a killer meal (This is a good day trip)

Looking back:

  • No need to look back, I married English so every other year you will have recs. You're welcome in advance.
