London, England #EuroJaggs

London, England

Third time is a charm

Where we stayed:

Islington. Stayed here last time and will continue to stay in this part of London for a lifetime. We got a place off of VRBO (shocker) and it was just what we needed (but bring ear plugs, London is busy, all the time, every second of every day... so if you want sleep then bring something to make that happen). Lots of room, a place to lay our head, a shower that I almost lost my life with a fall in, but over all it was good for London. The price was even better www.citadines.com/

P.S. As a general rule when it says it has a washer and dryer
in all places in Europe do NOT think it is like your posh one at home.
It is not. They suck. Big time. So if you are planning on washing
clothes think again because who wants to waste their time
hanging clothes to dry when you could be drinking ale at the pub!

Where we ate:

  • Roti Chi- calling all Indian food lovers, we went here the last time we were in London and will always go here whenever we can. It is just wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I said it was good right
  • Eat London Food Tour- this was such a great way to eat our way through London and not have to think about where to go. It is about a 4 hour food tour and you literally get 8 small meals and a taste of East London (which by the way is unreal). Now if you don't want to go on the food tour we visited the following places: St. John Bread & Wine (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!), The English Restaurant, Androuet, Poppies, Pride of Spitafields, Aladin, Beigel Bake, and Pizza East (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!)
  • Bourough Market- I have said it once in a post and I will say it again, this is where life comes together in perfect harmony. There is so much to choose from that I will just let it blow your mind and make you make the decision on where to eat
  • Wright Oyster Bar- did someone say champs and oysters on the streets of London
  • The Wilmington- we had reservations here and I heard great things about it but we ended up not going because we wanted to hit up SoHo for happy hour (glad we did, it was amazing)
  • The Angelic- our favorite bar in London. It is in Islington and it is just grand. The food this time around was not all that impressive but the drinks are still good and the atmosphere is what you are looking for

What we did:

(FYI) We did the following in this order and I recommend it because it is one giant circle and you wont have to back track on the tube (Regent Park through Bourough Market)

  • Regent Park- rose gardens on gardens, such a great place to see the queens gardens and it is FREE

    • Abbey Road- I mean come on, it is a must. There are lots of peoples there but who cares, get your picture and relive the dream
    • Buckingham Palace- We actually got to see the changing of the guard which is just fascinating that traditions like that are still going down in this world of Facebook. But go and check it out
    • Bourough Market for lunch- mind blowing #yourewelcome
    • East London Food Tour (Eat London)- highly recommend, I think it was about $60 and it was worth every pound (money and the weight I gained from it)
    • Covent Gardens- you can spend a whole morning or afternoon checking out this place. Thinks shops, coffee, cheese and pubs (Salisbury Pub, Monmouth Coffee Company, and Neils Yard Cheese)
    • GO TO SOHO FOR HAPPY HOUR and go to The Kings Arms. If you want to see hot English boys and girls getting off work and getting their fun on, then this is the place. The food is not bad either
    • Download the tube map right now. This will be your saving grace and your feet will love you. It is easy to navigate but it can be a bit overwhelming if you are me and just want to get to the next meal/pub

    Looking back:

London is one hell of a city. It is freaking massive. So please give yourself some time to see but more so enjoy the city. This is my third time there and really I didnt scratch the surface. Yes there are sites to see, the big ones, but just like any city there are the times of citing and taking it all in. There are markets on markets to visit and pubs on pubs on pubs to enjoy. So make sure that you are giving yourself time to take it all in and not wear yourself out.
